Hello family and friends,
We’ve spent the last week reflecting on how special of a day we had last Sunday. Because we didn’t have a traditional service, we’ve spent months dreaming up what an appropriate memorial could look like. I felt it would be impossible to create an event worthy of Blake. Over time, we pieced together his favorite foods, some of his favorite activities, and invited all of his favorite people. We knew it would be a hard day, but hoped for a love-filled afternoon surrounded by our village. Man, did you all show up.
It moves us to tears to think about all of you that came from near and far to support our family and celebrate the beautiful life of our amazing little boy.
With well over 300 guests, we certainly felt the support, but it was the love and radiant energy of the day that was palpable. We had family, friends new and old, Rady’s staff, other heart families from Rady’s, first responders from Station 24, co-workers, colleagues and guests we’d never met before. The hugs shared, tears shed, pure compassion and love for Blake translated to feelings we’ll never forget.
The only downside of such an amazing turnout was that we didn’t get really any time to connect with you individually. Please know that your presence meant the world to us. The fact that you carved time out of your lives to honor Blake will stay with us forever.
There are very few times in life where you might get to witness the many people that love you. We are humbled and overwhelmed by the love fiercely shown by OUR village. Thank you for demonstrating your continued and unwavering support, for keeping us on your mind and Blake in your hearts, and for helping to keep Blake’s spirit and legacy of good deeds alive.
Blake blessed us with a perfect and serene afternoon, and we sincerely thank you all for helping to make it so incredibly special.
We are grateful for you and your love for Blake.
