Hello and happy holidays!
As we close out the year, my heart is overflowing with gratitude for this incredible Good Deeds #ForBlake community. Your compassion and generosity continue to turn heartache into hope. Because of you, we’ve transformed love into action—lifting spirits, easing burdens, and carrying forward Blake’s legacy of kindness in meaningful ways. Every good deed, whether a small act of care or a collective effort, strengthens our mission to bring comfort and connection to those who need it most. The ripple effect of your kindness continues to grow—and it inspires us every single day.
A Year of Kindness and Impact
Holiday Giving
Our Holiday Giving program grew even stronger this past year, reaching 40+ families with children in the Cardiothoracic ICU at Rady Children’s Hospital. Each family received $150 in gift cards to help cover meals, self-care essentials, or transportation while caring for their child. The smiles, tears, and heartfelt thanks reaffirm why we do this work—to ease burdens, spread kindness, and remind families they’re not alone during the holidays. We’re grateful to continue and expand this tradition again this year.
Comfort Cart Launch
Another milestone this year was the launch of the Good Deeds #ForBlake Comfort Cart—created in partnership with the CTICU through their Nurse Leader Rounds program. The focus is simple but important: bringing comfort and dignity to families who arrive at the ICU unexpectedly and unprepared. The cart provides essentials like toiletries, socks, tissues, hair ties, notepads, and phone chargers—small but meaningful items that offer care and relief during incredibly difficult moments.
Blake’s Birthday Bash: Comfort & Toy Drive
Our 2nd Annual Blake’s Birthday Bash was such a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community shows up with full hearts. This year’s drive grew in both size and spirit—participation up more than 20%, donations up nearly 40%, and total contributions rising over 50%! Together, 85+ donors and 113 attendees collected 506 items valued at over $6,650. We also expanded our focus to include comfort-care items for families spending long days and nights in the ICU. We’re so grateful to everyone who gave, attended, and celebrated with us.
Boo! #ForBlake
And of course, Boo! #ForBlake brought all the joy and Halloween magic again this year—nearly 100 Boos shared across neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces! Each “Boo,” a small surprise treat left anonymously, is simple, fun, and rooted in kindness. It’s an activity that teaches children to give without expecting anything in return—one of the most beautiful lessons Blake continues to teach us. Thank you to everyone who kept his playful spirit alive through these tiny acts of joy.
Supporting Our First Responders
We also continued our commitment to honoring the firefighters, officers, and medics who show up with courage and compassion when families need it most. Earlier this year, we helped make a longtime dream a reality by completing the Fire Safety Education Bins project with the SDFD Resource Captain. Together, we created and delivered 53 hands-on education bins—one for every fire station across San Diego County—to make fire-safety training more interactive and impactful for families and children. Seeing this vision come to life showed us yet again how community and kindness can create lasting change.
Looking Ahead
As we move into a new year, we’re filled with hope and determination to keep growing this community of kindness—one good deed, one family, one smile at a time. Whether you donate, participate, or simply share our mission, you help keep Blake’s spirit alive in the most meaningful way.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’ll continue making the world a little brighter—#ForBlake and for one another.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Leah Davis
