Our Real Life Superheroes

Today, we thought we’d give some thank yous to a few people that helped Blake in desperate times. This birthday would not have been possible without these “strangers” being there for us. So off to Fire Station 24 we went armed with a cookie cake. Three of the medics that were there today had responded to our call. We recognized them immediately upon their greeting. Once we shared, “Your team helped save our baby boy down near the park…” they remembered the situation exactly. They couldn’t believe we spent 76 days at Rady’s. We can’t either. Blake loved the station and the fire truck. He ran around with eyes wide open, interested in everything. Then a call came in and off they went… a team of real-life superheroes.

Next stop, Vladimir and Irena’s house. We had barged into their home with fear and chaos that day before the ambulance and fire truck picked us up. I’ll never forget the medics storming their living room like a raid, but seeing them was the biggest relief. It was traumatic for us all, no doubt. Today, we delivered flowers and hugs to say thank you, and let them know we got to celebrate Blake’s 2nd birthday. Turns out, they were also celebrating Vlad’s birthday today. A special coincidence.

There are so many people that have contributed to Blake’s miracle. We are so thankful for you all.
