For Julie

This beautiful young woman, Julie, got caught in an unfortunate crossfire on Bourbon Street in New Orleans this week as police were trying to apprehend an assailant who wound up grabbing one of the officer’s guns and starting shooting. Julie, who was there to celebrate life during the Mardi Gras season didn’t survive. I found out through friends of mine that Julie and I went to the same high school and she was a nurse at a hospital my dad used to work for. Today, I contributed to her family to help with burial costs and I did it for my fellow Southern sister, Julie and #forblake
